Conscious Living Survey
How can we be more mindful and conservative in our use of resources?
We have developed a short survey that can help you identify ways to conserve resources in your life—within your landscape, your home, and your neighborhood.
Complete it (about 5 minutes tops) and we will send you one of our exclusive PETRO eco-friendly tote bags!

The Conscious Living Home Analysis by PETRO Design/Build
Waste less, save more!
Excessive air movement (leakage) through walls, windows, roofs, and plumbing joints compromises the thermal integrity of your home—energy usage increases and human comfort is diminished.
Air leaks can also create moisture (condensation) in your home’s envelope, causing wood to rot, metal to corrode and mortar to crumble—not to mention MOLD, which can be a major cause of health problems.
A thermal review and report, included in the Conscious Living Home Analysis, will identify thermal irregularities in your home with the use of infrared cameras. We can help resolve a variety of energy loss issues and give you assurance that your energy and maintenance cost dollars are being well spent.
Identifying ways to conserve water as well as protect against its damage is a key component of the Conscious Living analysis. Erosion from storm water, leaking window wells, gutter and downspout failures, toxic mold on damp walls can all cause costly damage to your home.

The Conscious Living Home Analysis is affordable and will provide an in-depth report on how you can:
- improve air quality,
- reduce energy losses,
- conserve water in the landscape,
- protect your home from water damage,
- maximize the performance of your HVAC and other systems
- help you realize savings on energy costs!

Save With On-Site Water Conservation
You can save money on your water bill every time it rains by installing a rain barrel. Storing water for later use is prudent and practical.
Diverting water from storm drains into rain gardens or below-ground cisterns is another way to conserve water and help protect your local watershed. Consider permeable paving or even a green roof as other alternatives to reduce runoff. Also, by simply raising mowing heights the rate of runoff is reduced.
Reducing the amount of water used within the landscape can be achieved with numerous sustainable landscape techniques. Reducing the amount of turf on a site reduces the need for supplemental watering, as does incorporating drought tolerant native plants.
Energy Conservation Can Begin in the Landscape
Well-positioned trees can provide shade during hot summer days and a stand of tall evergreens can provide wind protection during cold winter months.
Reducing wind chill and solar heat gain are two ways to reduce home energy bills. Shading the air conditioning unit itself will increase its efficiency.
PETRO can suggest ways to take advantage of site conditions, prevailing winds and existing microclimates. Strategic planting of deciduous trees can optimize sun/shade activity through all seasons and pergola and trellis structures can reduce air conditioning needs by providing additional shade and cool seating areas.
